Description

Spigot Silencer

• Full metric range of attenuators with spigot connection

Construction

Both types are solidly constructed using galvanized sheet steel and feature effective sound-absorbing material sandwiched between the outer casing and the inner perforated steel lining. The end faces of the silencer do not have threaded holes for fixings, but has a steel spigot for ease of mounting.

Silencer Attenuation

To determine the noise level of a fan equipped with a silencer, subtract the dynamic insertion loss from the fan's sound power level spectrum (dBW) across the entire mid-frequency octave band spectrum. The fan's dBW ratings and silencer attenuation apply to both in-duct applications, where a silencer is connected between the fan and the duct system. Please see the attached data sheet

Dynamic Insertion Loss

The silencer's sound reduction capability is termed "dynamic insertion loss." The values in the tables in the data sheet indicate the difference between the sound power level of a fan and silencer combination (dBW) and that of the fan alone (dBW). These dynamic insertion loss figures are recorded under optimal working conditions. The actual attenuation achieved will vary based on air velocity and flow patterns in the airways.
