Extractor Bags - What do the sizes mean?

Tackling the ins and outs of Dust Extraction bags

Let's explore the world of dust extraction bags and extract their mysteries (get it!?), including why these bags have two different measurements, 500mm and 812mm…

How are the bags measured?

The most common bag we have is what we call the 500mm bag, which actually measures 812mm millimetres across when laid flat. Now, how does that work?

Essentially, it's the width of the bag times by two, giving us 1624 millimetres, which we then divide by pi (3.142) to get the 516mm diameter, but because there could be up to 3% tolerance, the smallest it could be is 500mm Diameter - (516mm - 3% = 501mm)

The benefits of dust extractor bags:

These bags come with a double seal at the bottom for added protection and peace of mind.

They're equivalent to 500 gauge, making them pretty sturdy and suitable for a variety of uses like collecting rubble and wood waste in the woodworking industry.

How do you attach these bags to a spigot?

Well, it's pretty straightforward. You can fold it over, use bagging straps, or opt for self-seal options for a secure fit. We offer various sizes to suit different needs, all calculated in the same way.

Choosing the correct dust extractor bag:

Simple! Measure across the spigot to determine the diameter, then choose the next size up for your bag. And remember, there's always a bit of tolerance, so go for the closest size that's just a bit bigger.

And that's a wrap on understanding dust extraction bags! Whether you're a woodworking enthusiast or an industry professional, this should equip you with the knowledge to choose the right bag for your needs.
